Bought two Cam 2s to cover my front porch and back door. Setup was dead simple — scanned the QR code in the Abode app and both were streaming within five minutes. The power cables are short out of the box (about 6 feet), so I grabbed a pair of 25ft extension cords from Amazon for $12 and ran them along the eaves with cable clips. Video quality surprised me. During the day it's sharp and colors look accurate. At night, the infrared kicks in and I can clearly see faces up to about 20 feet out. Not as good as a dedicated outdoor camera like a Reolink, but for the price it does the job. The biggest strength is the integration with the Abode app — I check cameras, arm/disarm, and review clips all in one place. No extra subscriptions needed for basic clip storage. My one gripe: motion detection can be hit or miss. It sometimes captures a passing car but misses someone walking up the driveway. Tweaking the sensitivity helped, but it's not perfect. Overall for $35 per camera, it's hard to beat if you're already in the Abode ecosystem. I'm planning to buy a third one for the garage.

This camera has been a lifesaver, we have finally managed to figure out the missing cake phenomenon afflicting our family. The culprit? My husband! He has been caught red-handed on multiple occasions sneaking food from the fridge after midnight and denying it the next day - but now we have the video proof, and he still denies it!!! If only this camera were battery-operated, we would put one inside the fridge too!

I have become increasingly appreciative of the Abode service and after 6 months, I am more convinced than ever that I’ve made the right choice. I’ll start with the integrations. They are second to none! After a few chats and two calls, the rep was able to upgrade my firmware (no available update was showing in the app), allowing me to connect with apple HomeKit and my Ecobee thermostats. A second simple step allowed me to connect my Apple Watch. From there, all of my abode devices immediately showed up in HomeKit and I was immediately able to access, arm and unarm my system through apple and, specifically, through Siri. These integrations are perfect and I have no problems whatsoever. Next, I’ll focus on the cameras. They are really good cameras and have so far held up through a wide range of Chicago weather. I don’t like the short cables that came with the camera and I don’t like the fact that a wall plug is the only power source. However when looking at their functionality, their adjustable mounting options, their ease of access, app control, and their price, they are probably the best cameras I’ve ever had from an alarm company, and that is even more true when I take into account the 24/7 recording option. That being said, the live recording upgrade is a must, and is more than comparable to other services, if not better. The general install was easier than promoted. I was able to set up the entire system in less than 30 minutes (cameras not included); my system includes 5 door sensors, a base, a motion detector, a glass break sensor and a keypad. I removed the keychain from the system because it seemed too easy to hit the wrong button and there is no was to really secure access. The total setup of 30 minutes included getting the base up and running. I must admit, it took another two days to finalize HomeKit integration, but that’s because I wasn’t aware that I needed to contact customer service and have them manually push through the correct firmware upgrade. I imagine that process will become simpler over time, as they continue to make upgrades to the system. The only issues that I have is the sensitivity of the glass break sensor. Stacking glass plates, vacuuming, and even opening a can of root beer has activated the alarm, but I can’t say I’m mad about it, because it gives me peace of mind that I’m covered. The customer service, the equipment, and the price, more than make up for it. This is by far one of the best home purchases I’ve made and I would recommend abode to anyone looking for a customizable home alarm system.

Easy to install, makes amazing videos

I got this camera to provide a bit of extra security. There have been some middle-of-the-night ding-dong ditches in my neighborhood this summer and I wanted to be prepared. We haven't had any security issues, but it ended up being really handy for keeping an eye on my elderly dog when we let him out, especially a night. The night vision is very clear! I wasn't sure how it would fair against weather, but we had a pretty massive storm roll in this weekend and it held steady and is working like charm. It was super easy to set up. I'm glad we got this.
