Bought 4 of these for our new house. Covered the main hallway, living room, back door area, and upstairs landing. Setup was straightforward — twist the base, pull the battery tab, pair in the app. Detection range is solid at about 12-15 feet with a 120-degree field. Our cat (9 lbs) has not triggered a single false alarm in 3 months. The pet immunity works. Battery life claims say 3-5 years, and after 90 days the app still shows 100% on all four sensors. At $29 each these are a good deal — SimpliSafe charges $30 and Ring charges $30 for comparable motion sensors, but neither works with HomeKit or Z-Wave devices. One thing to note: these are passive infrared (PIR) only. They detect body heat and motion, not sound or vibration. For glass break coverage you need the separate acoustic sensor. But for hallways and rooms, these do the job. Works perfectly with CUE automations — when motion is detected after 11pm, the hallway Hue lights turn on at 10% brightness. Small touch that makes the whole system feel smart.

Been an Abode customer for several months now and the system reliability has been rock-solid. The main reason I chose Abode was the ability to check in on my pets when I travel — the camera feeds are crisp and I can view the stream in real time whenever I want. The motion sensor notifications are excellent and come through instantly. Setup took me under an hour for the entire system, sensors and all. After that I integrated everything with Alexa which makes arming and disarming incredibly convenient — just a voice command. The sensors have been accurate with zero false alarms so far. For the price and the no-contract flexibility, this is the best DIY security system I have tested.
