Mini Door/Window Sensor

Yes – the Mini Door/Window Sensor works with Apple HomeKit through an Abode security hub (Smart Security Hub or iota). Simply pair the sensor with your Abode system and link your Abode hub to the Apple Home app. Once connected, you’ll see the door/window sensor in HomeKit, allowing you to receive notifications and include it in your HomeKit automations. (Note: The sensor requires an Abode hub and cannot connect to HomeKit directly on its own.)

Installation is quick and tool-free – just use the included adhesive strip to mount the two-part sensor on your door or window frame (one piece on the door/window, the other on the frame). The device is completely wireless and battery-powered, so there’s no drilling or wiring needed. It communicates with the Abode hub from up to 100+ feet away, giving you flexibility to secure almost any door or window in your home.

The Mini Door/Window Sensor is powered by a long-lasting CR2450 lithium battery (included). The battery life is about 4 years under normal use. When it’s time to replace the battery, you’ll get a notification through the app. Replacing it is easy – simply open the sensor’s casing, swap in a new CR2450 coin battery, and snap it back in place to continue receiving reliable open/close alerts.

You can get very creative. For example, have your smart lights turn on automatically when a door opens at night, or trigger a connected alarm siren if a window is opened unexpectedly. Through Abode’s CUE automation or Apple HomeKit scenes, the sensor’s open/close events can trigger other devices – whether it’s arming your security system when you close the front door, or having a HomeKit-compatible thermostat adjust when a window is left open. You’ll also receive immediate alerts on your phone (via the Abode or Home app) whenever the sensor is tripped, so you’re always in the know.

Absolutely. The sensor’s slim, mini design fits almost any door or window frame. It works even if there’s a gap of up to 0.75″ between the sensor and magnet, and for trickier frames you can use the included offset spacer to ensure a snug fit. This makes it suitable for standard doors, casement or double-hung windows, and even many sliding doors. You can also paint the sensor housing to match your decor, so it blends in while it protects your entry points.

Yes. In addition to HomeKit, the Abode sensor can be integrated with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This means you can ask Alexa or Google if a door is open or closed, and include the sensor in routines (for example, have Google Assistant announce when the front door opens). The sensor also works as part of Abode’s system with Zigbee and Z-Wave compatibility, so it’s versatile across many smart home platforms. (HomeKit, Alexa, and Google Home integrations all require the Abode hub to interface with those services)
